About This Project

Nestled in its parklike surrounds gazing at the buckets range, Ardmore park house is the culmination of a joining between the original brick veneer farmhouse and the 327 sqm addition of new wings that include a new enclosed garage, open plan living, master suite and entry foyer to connect the new with the old.

The entryway features a timber pergola with a series of Merbau timber beams. It creates a welcoming canopy, inviting visitors up to the front door painted in a bright blue a detail that draws you between the new and old dwellings. With striking skillion rooflines and cladding in James Hardie 405 Stria used vertically, the modern façade and rooflines puts a new twist on farmhouse. The house is a sanctuary seamlessly connecting the old wing of the home with the new, it is interesting because it reflects both design intentionality and lived-in comfort – a space where memories are waiting to be made and grandkids can run free.

A spacious living area that exudes warmth and elegance opens off the main foyer, with high raked ceilings throughout the open plan living area. High light windows, cascade light upon the rich brown Havwoods engineered pre-finished flooring laid in a parquetry style. The timber floor adds to modern country charm and provides warmth underfoot. Vantage Thermally broken and double glazed the windows throughout are on the cutting edge of thermal comfort, needed in an environment that can get as hot as 45 degree’s in the summer and positively frosty in the winter, with use of smart design casement windows are evident in some areas of the house.

The focal point is an impressive brick fireplace, internally mounted and flued, the freestanding firebox hand crafted by the French manufacturer Cheminees Phillipe is a beautiful and functional piece warming the extensive spaces. The impressive hardwood beam used for the lintel came off their very own property and was saved and milled, and we built the fireplace around it. The small wood loading window is a wonderful practical feature that allows the clients to load their wood from outside into a nook beside the fireplace this small door doubles as another way for the natural light and view to make its way in.

To the side of the fireplace, a dining area offers a glimpse into shared meals and laughter, large windows throughout this home frame views of nature’s artwork outside, allowing daylight to spill in and dance across every surface. A beautiful family sized dining table adorned above with simple, yet sophisticated iron style chandeliers sets the scene for rustic opulence. The kitchen features a modern rural style kitchen with 2 Pac green cabinetry and Dekton countertops. The back wall has a Dekton backsplash and is fitted with stainless steel Gaggenau appliances including a steam oven and warming draw. Open wooden shelving on the right adds to the storage options while the hide away bar is not to be missed. Tucked around the corner is an open style Butler’s pantry, with large windows that lend a bright and airy feel to the kitchen. The green cabinetry adds a refreshing pop of colour, while the mix of materials – wood, metal, and Dekton – creates visual interest. Whether preparing a meal or sipping coffee by the window watching the cattle, this kitchen offers warmth, practicality and style.

The bathrooms in this home are more than functional – they are serene retreats where you can unwind and rejuvenate. The tile selection focuses on variation in hue and texture and adds an artisanal touch. The colour of the hour is green, from glossy green, to muted jades, both bathrooms create a soothing and earthy ambiance.
