Client’s brief
“Design a Hampton’s style home with Australian influences which would be future-proof, yet appeal to our predominantly teenage family, loads of storage and enable provision for a swimming pool in the future.”
The block was flat, and oddly shaped with Westerly river views. Privacy from neighbours was paramount as the site constraints meant the block was overlooked on the northern boundary by the adjoining 2 storey home.
Externally, Scyon Linea cladding creates that Hamptons look with crisp rendered brickwork. A Colorbond roof was used as an injection of Australiana together with Hamptons-styled gable-end detailing.
2740mm ceilings throughout , dark-stained spotted gum hardwood flooring and a stunning custom staircase pay tribute to the Hamptons feel upon entry. The open plan living areas and hallway are complimented by Easy Panel wall lining and dado rails. Once you walk past the stair void your eyes are drawn out to the alfresco area and views of the River beyond. A custom-joinery outdoor kitchen compliments this private alfresco space and Zip track alfresco blinds have been installed to the covered alfresco to block the western setting sun and also provide privacy and year-round protection from flies and mosquitoes.
The Hampton’s inspired kitchen and pantry have 2-pac routed doors and engineered stone bench tops. The large island bench is sink-free to give maximum space to allow ample preparation for entertaining, whilst the extensive butler’s pantry incorporates the traditional double sink and dishwasher.
The ground floor houses a guest bedroom together with a full bathroom across the hallway to future-proof the home for the owner’s later years. This floor also has a generous media room and 3 car garages with plentiful storage.
The extensive wet areas throughout comprise a large family laundry, 3 generous sized bathrooms plus an additional powder room. The clients have selected unique patterned floor tiles matched with white rectified wall tiles to make the floor tiles the hero of these rooms. All bathroom’s host beautiful custom vanities with recessed mirrors, under-tile heating and heated towel rails to the ensuite.
Upstairs, the over-sized master suite has views over the River with a generous ensuite and large WIR with practical storage solutions. Together with a teenage-friendly rumpus room and study area plus two generous bedrooms with WIRs, space and storage are plentiful.
Ducted and zoned Daikin air conditioning gives year-round comfort and a 5kw photo voltaic system was installed to offset the energy used by a teenage family.
The end result is a 488sqm home of distinction poised comfortably overlooking the river.
