Meet Adam Ferris

Managing Director

With a long history in building and construction, Adam started his apprenticeship as a Carpenter & Joiner in 1996 and completed his Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery in 2000.

In 2003, he topped the state, receiving the prestigious NSW State Medal for the highest mark in Certificate IV in Building Studies. That same year, Adam stepped into a leadership role as Site Supervisor at Sorensen & Caldon, marking the start of a career defined by excellence.

His unwavering commitment to quality saw him become a partner in 2005, and by 2020, Adam had taken the helm as sole Managing Director. In 2022, the company name evolved to Sorensen Caldon Ferris builders, reflecting his leadership while honouring the legacy of the business.
Adam specialises in finding practical, “best build” solutions for complex sites and intricate architectural designs. Known for his clear communication and hands-on guidance, Adam works closely with clients from their very first site visit to the moment he hands them the keys to their dream home.
A licensed builder, Adam also contributes to the industry as a committee member of the Master Builders Association and Housing Industry Association local divisions.

Our engagement with SCF builders started when we visited their display home in Port Macquarie and I remember being very impressed with with quality of the finish and fittings. We spent some considerable time over many months visiting project display homes in several widespread locations reviewing countless floor plans in our desire to shortlist a builder with a house design that we would like to have built for our retirement home.There was one builder that stood out to... us amongst all of the display villages that we visited and that was Sorensen and Caldon who had a couple of display homes at Sovereign Hills in Port Macquarie. It was a combination of the layout, inclusions, look and feeling of a quality build that attracted us at first. When we got down into the detail of our requirements including design, inclusions and fittings, material and colour choices, etc., we realised too that the people at Sorensen and Caldon would make this an easier process for us than we had previously thought.From our initial contact at reception to signing the building contract, we were more than happy, confident and appreciative of the advice and guidance that we were given reassuringly along the way from Kylie, Julie, Kate, Adam, Andy and everyone we came in contact with at Sorensen and Caldon.That reassurance continued right through the building process to completion with thanks as well to all the trades people and suppliers involved from ground preparation right through to moving in. Along the way, we were made welcome to view and discuss any aspect of the construction of our home. We appreciate the excellent care and attention to every detail and the willingness under which our several extra requirements that we came up with were accommodated. As a first time builder, it was certainly a big decision going deep into the unknown having heard some absolute horror stories of experiences with other well known companies. Right from the word go at first meeting, there was no pressure and a comfortable personable approach with a 'can do'... attitude.Adam, Kylie and the entire team were always accessible with great communication - nothing was a problem. There was flexibility and the offer of professional and practical advice if they saw fit.Access to the build was never a problem which was awesome to see how the blank canvas unfolded. A big indicator on how it was the right decision to build with Sorensen & Caldon was how highly their trade staff spoke of them and the long term relationships which had been built with an emphasis on quality and no short cuts.There were no hidden surprises with costs and the end result was a beautifully constructed home which is the envy of neighbours. In terms of price, on face value they will appear more expensive than most of the other big companies. In saying that, Sorensen prices are based on quality inclusions and selections rather than an absolute base model which is how the 'other guys' manage to look cheaper. So once you decide on nice finishes the price ends up being on par or better.Can't recommend these guys enough and look forward to the next one - with Sorensen & Caldon of course :) Thanks guysread more

We completed building just before Christmas 2019 in Port Macquarie with S&C. This is to be our final home and we had certain requirements and standards that where important to us. The team at S&C completed the build and did a remarkable job with what was a complicated construction.All the... subcontractors where wonderful ambassadors for S&C and always defaulted to the best standard and highest quality workmanship.Adam and the team went out of their way to ensured that we got what we wanted from both the build and design. We could not be happier with them and would highly recommend S&C for anyone wanting to build an individual home. We recently moved into a new house custom-built by Sorensen & Caldon on a sloping hillside site, with several design features that made the build challenging. I am delighted to say that Sorensen & Caldon did an exceptional job throughout, and we are extremely happy with the result. The quality of... the build and end result was excellent, both the structural elements and the finish details. This attention to detail is especially comforting given the house is bushfire-rated - we felt very confident about ember entry protection when, just after completion, a large bushfire came close to the house (without issue). Crucially the house also finished squarely on budget, with the only variations being those we had requested. Sorensen & Caldon are a very professional, high quality, and high integrity outfit and I would strongly endorse them for any new building work.read more
